There’s an extra “P” in my Happpy!
CEO - KimPublished August 30, 2011 at 9:06 pm 3 CommentsDon’t worry – I do realize that I added an extra “P” in my Happpy. (Somewhere out there, my elementary school teacher just breathed a huge sigh of relief.)
I love, love, LOVE being inspired. For me, it feels surreal, like being lifted off the ground in order to absorb a higher thought, just long enough to catch it and bring it back down to reality and make it a part of your own world. Right now, I’d say that I’m absolutely in love with Zappos, the customer service, the culture, CEO Tony, (though don’t tell my husband – kidding!) and most of all their perpetual pursuit of happiness. They’ve definitely got my mind floating lately.
Zappos (zappos.com for anyone who doesn’t know about this retail giant), is an example of a company that truly cares about its customers, employees, and the world. This is SO refreshing to see. As a business owner, I’ve always thought that coworkers should not only be your friends, but a type of extended family that you feel safe and inspired by daily. Heck, why waste hours of your day otherwise? Each day should contain challenges, laughter, smiles, and hard work.
And you KNOW the Zappos team has fun!!! I’ve seen those pictures of the tournaments that goes on, the alternative shoes that CEO Tony dons, etc. During my last chat session with Zappos customer service rep Jess, he invited me to visit him should I ever decide to take a tour of the Zappos facility. You bet I’m going to be visiting them! When I asked how I’d find him, he said to just look for the big unicorn on his desk. OK, you’ve got me in LaLa Land so I guess I’ll be looking for sparkles, too.
Inspired by Zappos, we recently did our own happiness project here at Kiyonna and the results were amazing (stay tuned for my next blog). But, right now, I’m about to check out some shots from our Fall shoot. The new styles are sexy, vibrant, and every shoe is from….you guessed it, Zappos. Love them!!!!

Love Zappos and the Delivering Happiness Culture they have there! I was disappointed when I forgot to plan ahead and the tours for the week I was in Vegas were totally booked; I should have called to inquire, but decided it would be another reason, er, excuse to go back to Vegas soon. I went to a book-signing/speaking engagement Tony & the DH crew did in Cali last year. It was great. I have to say, sometimes at my job, where my company has zero positive culture or engagement with its workers, I often long for something more like Zappos. And now to look at shoes….
Who knew Zappos would be one of the must stop sites to see in Vegas, right?? Kiyonna is looking forward to visiting them and we will definitely be booking it ahead of time. Tony’s book was AMAZING and their service is always top notch.
Zappos is indeed amazing. But so is Kiyonna! It is great customer service and the fact that the people who work at either place so obviously enjoy what they do.. that makes all the difference! I would gladly work for either company… if I weren’t so remotely located!
I am currently working on a blog post for my blog about “make your day” customer service and both Zappos and Kiyonna will be in it!
Enjoy the day!
