I Love Weddings!

I love weddings!  I love it whether they’re big, small, daytime, evening, shotgun, destination…you name it. When there are two people promising to love each other for the rest of their lives, it can’t get any better than that.

Or can it?

As a woman, I can tell you in all honesty, that I love the process of getting ready to attend a wedding as much as the actual wedding itself.  From finding the perfect dress, to hunting down the coordinating accessories and shoes, to getting pampered with a manicure and pedicure, the process of “getting ready” is half the fun.

Whether I’m in the I-must-have-something-new mode, or revamping a classic dress that I already have in my closet, having the perfect dress is pivotal.  The rising temperatures of the summer months (June through August) are most popular for weddings and a great opportunity to showcase vibrant colors and fashions.  The options are bountiful, whether you want to reveal a little skin with a sexy off the shoulder silhouette, or perhaps go with a more classically elegant option such as a faux wrap dress.

Not sure what to wear to that wedding you just RSVP’ed to?  It can be stressful if you’re scrambling at the last minute.  So no worries – here’s a quick and easy guide to plus size dress shopping for summer and fall (since it’s never too early to plan) weddings.

Morning or Outdoor Wedding

Having just attended an outdoor morning wedding myself, I’m currently of the opinion that these weddings can be the most fun to dress up for!  If the event is either outdoors, takes place in the morning, or both, it is considered to be slightly less formal and allows for a broader range of dress types.  Go for something in a vibrant print or a no fuss faux wrap dress with flirty ruffle details. This season, I’m loving the nude shoe as it elongates my legs – always a plus in my book.

Evening or Formal Wedding

I relish events that require “going all out.”  My picks are to wear something classic yet sexy and usually with a touch of Old Hollywood glamour.  Our curve hugging, seasonless Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress is just one of our ongoing customer favorite plus size lace dresses. With teetering high heels (a rare thing for me to wear as I’m usually running after my girls), I love doing softly tousled tresses, a dark lip and a sultry smoky eye for an incredibly sexy look.  Trust me on this ladies, I know.  Just ask my husband.  ;)

Beach or Destination Wedding

If you’re heading to a beach or destination wedding — perhaps something on a cruise ship or at a resort hotel — opt for a comfortable and figure flattering jersey dress that shows just a hint of skin like the Alexandra. The fluid jersey material packs easily and skims over your curves for cool, wrinkle free wear.  Maximum on style with minimum effort, maxi dresses are versatile silhouettes that can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with flat sandals. With an effortless change of accessories, these solid options can be worn beyond the wedding ceremony such as the reception, “formal wear” dinners on the cruise or to grab some drinks at a pool side after party.  These plus size jersey dresses with of the season details such as draping, ruching or ruffles will reflect the unfussy, carefree style that matches the ease of summer days.

Hope you love these recommended plus size dresses as much as I love recalling all these different wedding options.  I know you’ll look amazing in these… and hopefully you won’t upstage the bride too much.
