How Vannessa Got Her Groove Back

I’ve never seen the movie, How Stella Got her Groove Back, but I bet she felt a little like me right now. Mexico has been magical since day one of our trip. We amazingly got upgraded to one of the hotel’s largest penthouse suites with a huge balcony and jacuzzi pool included. Mind you, I’m with my cousin, brother and his girlfriend, all of which are under 25. We’ve never experienced such a luxurious lifestyle and we are soaking it all in. The views have been breathtaking, the food is absolutely amazing, but I am so intrigued by the local women.

Being plus size, it’s hard to go to those fun vacation spots and flaunt what you’ve got when you see these beautiful thin model-esque women walking around in nothing but a string bikini. I’m not a hater by any means but how I wish I had that body confidence to walk around in my skirted tankini! In America we are so used to constantly being criticized about our size, the clothes we wear, and how we act in public. For whatever the reason it’s a little different here. The local women of Mexico are fun, beautiful, and curvaceous women who do not let their size hold them back. Though I usually have a blast no matter what, my goal at the end of this trip is to be a little more like the locals.

I already put this to test the other night when we went to one of the nightclubs. I realized I would most likely not see anyone in that club, ever again. I let loose and had the time of my life. And..I don’t think I’ve been asked to dance so many times in one night. I’ll be sure to let you know how my little “Act Like the Locals” experience goes…

Till Next Time… Adios from Mexico!

XOXO

You look great! I love the dress too. It’s true that a little bit of confidence goes a long way.

You look BEAUTIFUL. I wish I had the guts to fly. I am always worried about the seat size. And I don’t have money to fly first class. Have a great time.

Sheri and Kristen are right – you look fantastic! But I do know what you mean. I’ve put on a lot of weight over the last year – regained all weight I lost with Weight Watchers the year before – and people can be very judgemental, which makes it hard to feel happy and at peace with yourself. I think you are right about confidence, though – maybe that’s exactly what I need – the confidence to except myself and have fun – to hell with what other think. Thank you for your blog – I LOVE it : )
